Behind the Cabin Door July 2022 : "My kids came to me with a load of questions. God was dealing with their hearts! The answers were in His Word..."

Recently my kids came to me with a truck load of questions. “Are unicorns bad? Are mermaids bad? What about little fairies? What about tattoos and what do you think about … tv shows and movies?” The list kept growing bigger and bigger and my mind was trying to keep track of each one! Since it was very close to the end of the day I told them we would talk about these things another day. After a great nights sleep, I realized how special this was, as parent, that all my kids felt comfortable to come to me with their thoughts, concerns, and questions. I saw how deeply God is working in their hearts on these things that they are faced with every day! Things like this is a big deal to them and God chose me to speak to them! Be encouraged parents and caregivers when children and youth come to you and want to talk. They are needing and desiring guidance and this is the BEST opportunity for you to bring them closer to the heart of God! Don't miss the precious moments God brings to you.

My answers were first studying through each question they had. Where did it come from, how is it being used, does this bring you closer to Jesus... Then, I brought them straight to the Word of God, reading where His heart is on the matters. I cannot give you specifics on the few I listed, each of us and our families need to work out your own walk with God and standards in your home, but the Bible is always the best answer to any questions you or your children have. Praise God for sending us the Holy Spirit as our guide! He is the one who tells us rights and wrongs and leads us in the direction closer to God's heart! I ended our long conversation with worship and a time just sitting and listening for God to speak and fill my kids more with the Holy Spirit! Sadly, we as parents cannot bring our children with us to heaven but while they are with us we can create an atmosphere in our homes of reading the Word and living out the Word!
I want to encourage you to read the Word out loud with your family today and allow Him to speak to your hearts! Jesus, His Word, IS ENOUGH!!! He will also lead you on what to read!
