Behind the Cabin Door February 2024: “Make the most of every opportunity God gives you!...”
My family has recently been sick and sometimes it takes its time going through each person in our house. We are all feeling much better now! Praise God! But today, I looked at my little ones faces, wearing looking of the past few days and looking like they needed a little extra joy and then a Bible verse came to my mind,
"Make (making) the most of every opportunity..." Ephesians 5:16
I didn't look up the actual verse at that very moment but inspiration and desire came to me! I called off our normal schedule and plans of the day and God gave me a new layout! Since I had three beautiful little girls, we started off reading their Bible about Brave Rahab! Then, we made princess crowns and streamers! I told my girls that we are all God's princesses and that today we are going to have a princess party! I already had, my favorite, bluegrass hymns playing as we were creating our crowns and streamers so after we started to worship, dance, and wave our streamers! We praised God for His love and everything He has done for us! Next, we played game after game after game with balloons! Racing with one between our legs and under our arms like a duck, basketball, volley ball, keeping them up with a big spoon in our hand, keeping them up with a cup... we did it all! Then, I gave paints to my girls so they could create every more while I got creative in the kitchen! I made a little princess tea party lunch! We all had the best day and I watched how their sweet little faces that were wearing looking before had changed to three beautiful smiles!
I went back and looked up and read the whole chapter of Ephesians 5 and I was so surprised to find the rest of that little verse that God slipped into my heart...
"...be filled with the spirit, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and songs from the spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:18-20
God confirmed to me that I did make the most of my day today! I was obedient in that little thought to change things around and just have fun my little ones! God surely met us, refreshed us, and and gave us hearts of joy!!!
I encourage you too parents and caregivers, Listen to those little thoughts! They just might be from God!
