Behind the Cabin Door 2021 7: “At the center of a person's heart is a desire to want to be loved. Giving your time to sit and listen is a great start!”
We just wrapped up our final Young Circuit Riders Camp for the summer! Camp #4 was a Family Fun Water Day! The kids loved the hot dog lunch, gummy snacks, snow cones, water melon eating contest, and water games but I think their favorite was the slip n slides! It was hard to tell each kid apart with all the bubbles covering their entire body! It was a nice break from the hot sun!
The highlight of the day was the opportunity of meeting several new families who came from our community. Our core team spent the week before thoroughly walking through neighborhoods passing out door hanger invites. It was a long hot week in preparation but so worth it! I spoke to many people who were so excited they received one and was invited to come. One woman said she didn't live in the surrounding area but came to visit a friend, saw the invite on her door, and had to come!
As I spent time speaking to eat person, God began to show me that at the center of a person's heart is the strong desire to be loved. My eyes were opened more to see how people were so encouraged and excited that I sat down to not just say hi and introduce myself but to just listen to what they had to say. People, especially people who do not know Jesus, need and desire attention, need time, need love! I was so blessed God used me and my family.
If you feel you have been that person who lately may have felt you need extra attention or has felt friendless and alone... I want to tell you that God desires to be close to your heart! Spending time alone with God can change that feeling of loneliness, emptiness, and weight you may have been carrying. I encourage you today to sit down speak to Him, share your heart, and then listen to what He has to say. You will feel better and glad you did!
