Behind the Cabin Door 2021 4: “Can our lessons hold the kids attention for six hours? God please show up!...”

Young Circuit Riders just held it’s first Camp! We were so excited to teach children about the Word and then encourage them to Live Out the Word!

As God was flooding my mind with details I can’t saying to myself, “Can our lessons hold the kids attention for six hours? God please show up!”...

As our Team created the atmosphere God DID showed up just like He always does!

Our first session we spent time on details of The Bible. How many books are in the Bible, Old and New Testament, Table of Contents, foot notes, study notes, how there are different versions of the Bible, Bible phone apps, etc... I felt the kids eyes were excited to learn these little details  and then see all the differences of each of their own Bibles! “There are many different types and versions of the Bible but, the words and truth inside of the Bible has never changed in all of history.” As we talked and read through verses about the Word of God and how The Word effects our lives, the kids eyes were glued! I watched as kids left and right took out markers, pens, stickers, sticky notes, etc. to highlight or make a note of what God was showing them! Excitement and a love for the Word filled their hearts!

Our second session was prayer. “Praying is talking with God and telling Him what is on your heart. He wants to hear your heart because He created your heart....” I have been in kids classes many years and many times when it is time to pray I hear the kids tell me how they don’t know what to pray? Our Team spent time modeling reading and praying through the Psalms! It was so much fun! The kids were excited to read three verses and then pray out those verses. I saw their eyes pop with excitement as we all heard our prayers change... we thanked God, repented, prayed for our leaders, prayed for nation, prayed over ourselves... we prayed what was on our hearts and came into agreement with what was on God’s heart to pray for!

We ended with a worship session. One of our Team members stopped in the middle of a song most of us have heard, “Open the Eyes of my heart Lord”... “It was while this song was playing one day, when I was young just like you. I felt God touching my heart and  I decided to give my heart to Jesus! Let’s sing this song to Jesus together....” Our day ended on this sweet memory. Jesus showed up and loved on all of us! I am so grateful and thankful for the time we were able to spend with these kids! God is goo!

Today, I encourage you to pray the Psalms! Read three verses and then pray those three verses. Watch how your prayers will change! Watch how God will show up in your life too!
